Earlier, on Monday, the temple premises were cleaned and disinfected in preparation for reopening. Administration will make arrangements for safe distribution of prasadham to devotees. Priests will not distribute any prasadham, including ‘vibhuti’ and ‘kumkum’, directly. Meenakshi Amman Temple Madurai is located on the southern bank of Vaigai river in the state of Tamil Nadu. According to a press note from the temple administration, the temple will function from 6 am to 12.30 pm in the morning and from 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening. This kalayanam is conducted in private for past two years due to COVID.
